Don’t Listen
Romans 16:17-19
17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
19 For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.
This week we will look at this warning from Paul to avoid false teachers within the church. These individuals are characterized by their self - centered desires, use smooth talk and flattery to deceive the naive, and cause divisions that go against sound biblical teaching. Paul exhorts the Romans to be discerning, wise in distinguishing good from evil, and to remain anchored in the true doctrine they have received, rather than being led astray by these deceitful influences.
Don’t listen to anything that is not backed up by the Bible. The world wants you to compromise your belief system and will use all kinds of big fancy words to try and make you think they are so smart, but it really boils down to this: what does the Bible say?
